Access Information

The Kings Theatre strives to be as accessible as possible, whilst keeping in line with the limitations of a Grade II-listed building

Level access is currently only available at Stalls level only. All other levels are accessed via stairs. Please note that The Kings Theatre has no lift facilities at this time.

If you believe you will require additional support to enhance your experience during the show, please make a note when booking so our staff can be prepared to help in the best way possible.

For information on booking tickets and accessibility, please contact our Box Office on 023 9282 8282.

Assisted Listening

The Kings Theatre is delighted to offer Mobile Connect Assistive Listening, powered by Sennheiser.

Using Wifi, the sound is streamed directly from the sound system into the Mobile Connect app which is available free of charge on Apple and Android devices. Users can then use headphones to hear the performance clearly.

A limited number of tablets and headphone sets are available to hire (with a deposit) from the theatre.

For more information on getting set up ahead of arriving at the theatre, please contact the Box Office via email on Box.Office@kingsportsmouth.co.uk.

A number of our in-house and visiting productions offer accessible performances so that everyone has the chance to experience the magic of live theatre.

Please check the ticket information on the individual show page for more information on what access options are available.

Level access is available at the Stalls entrance on Albert Road.

The Kings Theatre provides 4 wheelchair spaces located in the rear of the Stalls section of the theatre. Please note, that these cannot be booked online.

Wheelchair users are welcome to transfer to a booked seat if preferred but must be able to walk without aid in the unlikely event of an evacuation. Wheelchairs can be stored in the Stalls bar whilst the performance takes place.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide access for mobility scooters or larger-style wheelchairs. For those wishing to travel to the theatre on a mobility scooter, these would need to be left outside of the building. For more information, contact the Box Office on Box.Office@Kingsportsmouth.co.uk

The Kings Theatre is a dog friendly building and we welcome assistance dogs during performances when pre-booked. Please speak to a member of the Box Office team when booking for any special requirements you may have for you and your dog.

An accessible bar and toilet are located at the rear of the Stalls, close to where our designated wheelchair spaces are located.

There are two disabled parking bays located to the left of the Stalls entrance on Albert Road. Unfortunately we are not able to reserve these spaces for patrons. Blue Badge holders can park on single and double yellow lines near the theatre, but not in the loading bays for a maximum of three hours. Please check for any other restrictions as usual.

Access requirement customers pay full price for their ticket.

You can then buy ONE companion ticket at a discounted rate.

As the access requirement customer, you must have and show one of the following letters to the Box Office Staff showing that you need to have a carer with you:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Nimbus Access Card+1
