The award-winning English Youth Ballet brings its enchanting production of Sleeping Beauty to The Kings’ stage. The production will star 6 international principal dancers and showcase the talents of 100 young dancers from the local area.
EYB’s spectacular ballet tells the epic tale of good gloriously triumphing over evil. The magic begins at Princess Aurora’s christening, where joyous celebrations are suddenly shattered by the arrival of the wicked Aunt Carabosse. Jealous and vengeful, she casts a dark curse on the innocent baby.
But hope is not lost – the kind and powerful Aunt Lilac intervenes, casting a spell of protection that sends Aurora, her family, and guests into a cryogenic sleep, frozen in time for one hundred years in the Palace Gardens.
Guarded by the mystical Cryonite Fairies, Aurora remains untouched by the passage of time – until destiny unfolds. When a brave Prince awakens her with a kiss, the curse is shattered, light returns, and Carabosse is vanquished forever.
With a cast of over 100, the scale of the ballet was truly staggering, culminating in a kaleidoscope of colour and outstanding talent – NEWCASTLE EVENING CHRONICLE
