Kings Theatre Open Day March 2025

Kings Theatre Open Day March 2025

Due to the overwhelming turn-out at last September’s event, The Kings is delighted to announce it will hold another Open Day in March 2025.

The event on 16 March will run from 10am – 3.30pm and will be covered once again by Kings’ partner Express FM.

There will be opportunity for visitors to watch live rehearsals for up-coming shows Bring It On and Annie on the stage. This provides a valuable insight into the rehearsal process and there will be members of the Creative and Kings in-house Production teams on hand to answer questions and provide details of how these shows are taken from auditions to rehearsals to stage.

The Kings Choir Resonate will perform on stage and invite people to join in with a song and maybe even sign up to join!

There will also be the opportunity for the younger attendees to take part in a Kings School of Performing Arts workshop, involving acting singing and dancing.

Making a welcome return will be Ghost Stories, an interactive Children’s area with Mrs Blossom Makes, costume displays and the chance to try some on, and stage make-up workshops.

The crowd-pleasing Spin-the-Wheel will be back giving people the chance to win tickets to up-coming shows including next year’s Pompey Panto, Aladdin. Rumour has it that legendary Dame, Jack Edwards will also be making an appearance.

There will also be updates on the progress of Elevation 1907 – The Kings Theatre regeneration project.

The Kings is committed to its mission to be a cultural and entertainment hub, and to expand its position as a community hub. There will be plenty of opportunity on the day to find out how people can get involved with the theatre’s activities across the board. From volunteering, joining the choir, working backstage or front of house to taking part in one of our smash-hit community shows, there is something for everybody.

It will also be a chance to discover how The Kings collaborates with other partners, charities, groups and businesses across the City, to ensure that the great waterfront city of Portsmouth continues to thrive and the Kings remains a key player in the promotion of Pompey as a destination.

Richard Pearce, CEO Kings Theatre

The Open Day here at The Kings always draws such great crowds so to be able to offer an extra opportunity to really see behind the scenes is fantastic. I am especially excited that for this Open Day we are opening up rehearsals for two of our up-coming shows, Annie and Bring It On, so that people can see exactly what is involved to get these shows onto the stage. I am hoping it might inspire more local people to get involved. We already know that Pompey is filled with talent, and I am confident that there are people that will come along and watch these open rehearsals and decide that it’s something they would like to get involved with next time around!
