APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!
Thank you for your interest in Annie the Musical. Below you will find all audition and callback information as well as information about which characters are available to play.
Applications will be closing Tuesday 14th January 2020 at 2PM.
First auditions take place on 19th January 2020 at the Kings Theatre, 9:00AM.
Girls aged 7-16 years. (Must be 7 before or on 1st March 2020).
Rehearsal date TBC.
What you need to do:
- For your audition, you will need to prepare a 30-second (16 bar) song.
- Please select material that reflects the character you are auditioning for, as well as the genre of the show. Please choose a song from a Broadway/West End show (sheet music), do not perform a Pop song! Pop music will not highlight your voice in the way that we need to hear it.
- You will perform your song for an audition panel consisting of the Director, MD & Choreographer.
- There will also be a dance section at the audition. All children auditioning must attend this section.
- Remember that during this section of the audition, we are looking to see if you tell the story through your dancing, not if you are the world’s greatest dancer! You will be singing ‘Hard Knock Life’ during the dance portion.
- Please arrive for your audition at least ten minutes early. If you are not there for your audition time, we will be moving on.
Callbacks
- Callbacks will take place on 26th January 2020. Children 9-16 years: 9:00AM. You will be informed via email if you have reached this stage.
- If you are not asked to come back for callbacks, it does not mean you are not cast.
- For callbacks, the production panel will be trying to fit people in roles. You will be asked to do both acting and singing and may be asked to dance.
- For the acting portion, you will be asked to do reads from the script which will be emailed to you. It will help you to research the show – What is the play about? Who are the characters? What are their relationships?
- The internet has a great deal of information about this show and the more information you have, the more detailed your audition will be. You may be asked to perform multiple songs if we are considering you for multiple roles.
Other Information
- On the day of your audition, bring snacks, and water to keep you hydrated and energized.
- For anyone who is cast, there is a £50 activity fee. The fee covers a t-shirt and helps go towards production needs.
- For the dance routine, please wear comfortable clothing that does not limit movement. No slippers, flip flops, or bare feet. Character shoes or dance shoes are preferred.
